1929: A LOOK AT GREED
1929 is a book about what led up to the Great Depression. And the circumstances which led to the depression could be compared with the situation we see today in this country.
The author is Andrew Ross Sorkin who also wrote Too Big to Fail. You may remember that this is what banks claimed after they were instrumental in the recession of 2008.
What led to the Great Depression was a group of very rich men speculating on the future of the stock market. Greed was the driving force that led to the suffering of so many people.
In this country greed is again a driving force in the country’s current condition. If you have any doubt of the amount of greed and corruption shaping the future of our country you need only look to the White House.
In a recent poll corruption in government replaced the economy as the primary concern of the population. More than 80% view corruption as a major problem in the country.
We are pointed in a direction by greed and lack of concern for the people of this country. Hopefully, in a few days that direction will begin to change.
