I only wish this piece was not true, but it is.
stars
have dimmed
once
vibrant colors
symbolizing
freedom
and
justice
have faded
bleached
by
the glare
of
ignorance
and
complacency
to
corrupt power
turning
this nation
into
a whiter shade
of
pale
