A POEM REFLECTING THE AGING PROCESS

My consistent readers,

I guess age and the thoughts of what comes next have been occupying my mind of late.
I’ve put some of these thoughts into poems in the past. Here is another.

WHAT IS LOST
AND FOUND
WHEN GROWING OLD

While growing old
Youth’s memories persist
Within our feeble minds.

Each passing day
With sorrow we find friends
Once known are gone.

Their passing slow
But all too rapid
They whisper their good-byes.

Each day brings suffering
A new pain found
A companion for that day.

And no one knows
The silent dread
That has come that day to stay.

But life is life
We do what we can
And use what we are given.

Hoping the world
Will benefit
From the fact that we were living.
